Life is fraught with uncertainty

It is natural for us to seek order, to have a sense of uniformity, to seek safety in the known.

Most people wrap themselves up so deeply in the ‘known’ that it becomes a bubble within which they operate, they survive.

By creating regularity they are able to function within the reality that they have given energy to.

There are some who seek change, adventure into the unknown, never getting tied down to the commonly accepted views of life.

Some look for situations that reinforce their perceptions, relationships that support their points of view, meet certain perceived needs. Needs that only arise within the reality that they currently believe to be the ‘only’ one.

When anyones reality is questioned by others who have different points of view, different values, the most common reaction is defence, followed by aggression.

In his book ‘Origin of the Species’ Charles Darwin referred to ‘ the survival of the fittest’. An interesting ‘point of view’. Who are ‘the fittest’? The strongest? Or is it the most adaptable. Those who are able to make use of ‘new’ information. This has long been my understanding.

We ‘exist’ within a field, or sea of information, our nervous systems being the interface between that field and who we believe ourselves to be.

For those who find safety in routine, everything happening according to a set timetable it is difficult for them to see beyond the limits set by their own need for security. So entrenched are they in their ‘reality’ that anything that does not fit into that understanding is either rejected, challenged or simply ignored, whether the ignoring is a conscious effort or simply a subconscious reaction is hard to say, and ultimately unimportant.

Why do some seek security in a limited reality while others seek answers and experiences beyond the known?

As I have looked at life and reasons, why, why, when or how situations arise on anyones path, it seems to me that everything, no matter what, arises from past thoughts, words or actions. Nothing can simply ‘show up’ without reason. Your manifesting reality today arose out of the past.

All the time we continue to identify strongly with the body, and a path, then time, as we experience it exists. While on this path there appears to be a past, present and future. It is within this structure that we build a reality that reflects our needs but which also must have arisen out of past needs that we have, either consciously, on unconsciously fed into the fabric that created our reality in the past.

“As ye sow, so shall ye reap”

When we are not aware (because of The Shadow – the subconscious that Jung refers to) then we are still victims to that part of us that remains unaware (the subconscious)

Is there some deeper, controlling mechanism that is responsible for creating the path that we tread? Or is it simply Karma?

We may seek security and regularity but the shadow will not be denied. The ’speed bumps’ that we meet along that way are simply the result of that which we put into this cosmic soup in the past, all the time we react to them we energise them thus guaranteeing they will show up again. In the ‘future.’
The body is a frail thing, a complex collection of parts all interdependent upon each other to operate effectively.

When we begin to see, and really understand that our physiology follows where our attention goes, we can begin to see how our thoughts create our ‘internal’ reality. When we can, objectively, view how our past thoughts and actions have co-created the world we live in we are on the threshold of significant change to our reality.

Where, because of the shadow /aka subconscious, we have been unaware of where our attention has gone, or we have been lost in a very limited perception of reality (because of our need to safety) for life to unfold has it has done in the past we may very well have created conflict within the body.

This was likely not done on purpose, simply a lack of awareness will do it.

The results however, will be the same. Giving the body conflicting instructions (conscious vs unconscious) input creates imbalance in how the cells operate, this leads to certain aspects of life being given more attention than others eventually creating health issues.

These may manifest as minor disturbances in physical, emotional or mental states, if we do not address the cause, merely treat the symptoms then nothing essentially changes, the body will continue to be in conflict with itself and more imbalance will arise. This of course leads to a worsening of symptoms. Many symptoms remain so small that they pass unnoticed. Until that is, they reach a level where they become obvious.

For many, the need to address these issues on a fundamental level is not possible, so locked up are they in their limited reality that the question never arises until it is very late in the game. Then, the programming within that helped create the imbalance is the same program that will seek help outside of the self. This may well be required but until the true nature of the imbalance is recognised problems will continue to surface.

Rather than asking people to realise this, these sorts of issues are best approached from a different point of view.

Acceptance being the key to change, yet once lost down a path acceptance is the last thing hing on a persons mind.

Yet, if we can slow ourselves down to the point of noticing change within our physiology (as a result of where our attention goes) we can begin to observe small changes in the body. By not giving anymore energy to these ‘small’ feelings we begin a journey towards freedom from the past.

Slow down, notice the little things, stop giving energy to them and soon, with practice, the ‘big’ things will become little things.
