Life – A Distraction or is it Somehow Real.
My experience has led me to believe that our manifesting reality is nothing but a distraction. Ongoing, very realistic, but a distraction none-the-less.
So convinced are we of that which presents as reality to us that we continually subscribe to the points of view, the judgements that make up that reality.
“Reality is an illusion – albeit a very persistent one” A quote, reportedly attributed to Albert Einstein.
Yet why are there so many different interpretations of ‘reality’? How can there be so many different perceptions of reality? Are they all ‘real’? Or are none of them ‘real’?
What if the very nature of the world we live in is a lie? An illusion? Constantly recreated by the energy that individuals, and groups of individuals put into the very fabric of creation.
My own experiences have led me to the conclusion that we indeed live in ‘a-make-it-up-as-you-go-along universe. Our life can be likened to a roll of film. A film is made up of still images, that, when viewed through a projector appear as a moving image.
Following the analogy of a roll of film, we see that each subsequent image is a product of a previous image. The ‘new’ image being a construct of our experiences and expectations.
There are many people talking today about creating a different future, a different reality, manipulating the current manifestation, creating abundance, fixing the old. Yet, fundamentally people remain the same, believing in the same story that has been handed down by their ancestors.
Another conclusion that I have come to is that of the Holoverse, a universe that is created on a moment by moment basis, You may associate this with our living in a computer simulation – not too far from my current perception. Now, if both of these ‘beliefs’ of mine are in any way valid, there should be no reason why we would not be able to create a very different future for our selves.
So why maintain a world of conflict? When there is an easy way out of all of the drama that, seemingly, continues to unfold on planet Earth?
According to Buddhist teachings we live in a world that is based upon ‘greed, fear and ignorance. Greed, not having enough – Fear, of losing what we have, or getting what we don’t want and Ignorance (not stupidity) a lack of awareness of our true nature. These three factors seem to control the ‘minds’ of all humanity.
Because few are taught anything other than the narrative that has been handed down through the ages, few ever really question the nature of the world they live in. Instead it appears as though people are continually trying to push their own agenda onto others.
I suspect a major reason for this type of behaviour is based upon an addiction to the past. This addiction is so strong that it is never questioned. In some ways, the majority of people on the planet are lost in this addictive state of being. Each believing in their own agenda, each believing in their individual and collective stories.
I imagine it is not possible for most to be objective enough to look back and see where their ‘story’ originated. Instead people believe others who, for whatever reason in their turn, cannot be objective about their story.
All the time we take sides in any story we are saying “this story is real – I must ‘do’ something about it”.
This simply energises the story, giving it more power, the more power we give a story, especially one that creates conflict, the more we are ‘forced’ to ‘do’ something to counter that story.
Yet, if we take the advice from Erwin Schrödinger, that “Every man’s world picture is and always remains a construct of his mind and cannot be proved to have any other existence” Then we can begin to understand what it is that is creating the world we live in.
All the time we identify with any aspect of this manifesting ‘reality’ we remain a part of the problem that continues to create a world seemingly full of conflict.
Not an easy task to step outside of the drama of life. At least not easy if you approach the issue head on.
A part of my journey, many years ago, was to not believe a word anyone told me. I would read or listen, with as open a mind as possible, but ultimately dismiss their opinions as just that, opinions. Opinions based upon their current understanding of the nature of the world.
By not giving my energy to anothers ‘opinions’ I gradually liberated the self from the collective dramas, the stories that created the world I live in. When a part of you stops energising others stories, reality begins to manifest in very different way. Ways that were not possible to imagine from within the story.
Your ‘reality’ will stop projecting judgments, stop blaming, and stop taking life so ‘personally’. In turn this affects, or appears to affect, all those around you, indeed the very environment that you meet on a daily basis. It is almost as though you step into a parallel universe.
And perhaps that happens, in various degrees, as we stop giving energy to old stories, a new story can manifest. Or, perhaps not a ‘new’ story, just a reawakening of a more fundamental reality, one that is no longer based upon stories.
